"3 Musketeers for Student Success!" - Celebrating National School Counseling Week

This week, February 7 - 11 is National School Counseling Week! This year we are celebrating by raising awareness of our roles as school counselors and thanking staff for their support of our program and the students we serve.

My intern made an awesome brochure highlighting the school counseling program at my school. We are going to give the brochure to all the teachers and administrators.

In addition to the brochure, we are giving teachers, administrators, and other school staff a "thank you." I got the idea to give teachers, administrators, and staff a thank you with a "3 Musketeers" theme from A Year of School Counseling: Tools and Techniques for K-12 Themes Throughout the Year edited by Barbara Muller-Ackerman, who runs the elementary counselor listservA Year of School Counseling has tons of information and ideas for National School Counseling Week including a proclamation, countdown calendar, and ideas for promoting National School Counseling Week events.  A Year of School Counseling is a great resource I use throughout the year for ideas and reminders for important dates and events.

To make the card:
I printed out the NSCW postcard message using white computer paper.  I used 8.5 x 11 sheets of black card stock for the background. I used a paper cutter to cut the messages and card stock into four pieces. I used my Cricut Expression and the Plantin Schoolbook Cricut Cartridge to make die cut apples and hearts. I used lime green card stock for the apples and red card stock for the hearts. I assembled all of the pieces using an adhesive dot roller. We will be giving bite-sized 3 musketeers candy with each card and placing them in staff mailboxes.

The message on the card says:

"Teachers, Administrators, and School Counselors work together for student success!

In celebration of National School Counseling Week 2011, we would like to thank you for being one of the '3 Musketeers!'

Your School Counselors, Mrs. Nayduch, PreK-5 and Mrs. Schultz, 5-8."

I have provided a Google Document of the NSCW postcard message. ***I recently updated the message with two versions one that says "your school counselor" and one that says "your school counselors." I also took out the date so that you can use this for years to come!***
