Not ready for a complete bulletin board overhaul? Just change up some pieces! I converted my Halloween Digital Safety Bulletin Board so that it can be used year round!  Get the files you need to make the Smartphone Digital Safety Tips Bulletin Board here .  Below are the materials I used to create this  Smartphone Digital Safety Tips Bulletin Board : Smartphone Digital Safety Tips Bulletin Board Kit  - this is a link to a folder with all the files you need to recreate this bulletin board. The folder contains the social media icons, smartphone, stars, and digital safety tips. Halloween-Themed Interactive Digital Safety Week Bulletin Board

Image
A few years ago I created this interactive, Halloween-themed digital safety week bulletin board. I put this bulletin board up last week in preparation for  Digital Safety Week on October 18th - 22nd .  This Halloween-themed digital safety week bulletin board contains tips for how to be safe on social media. Students and staff can lift the flaps for for information about each tip. This year, I added a  black & white polka-dot border  to my Digital Safety bulletin board to really make it pop!  I also updated some of the social media icons from my previous board. I needed to add Tik Tok, of course! I couldn't decide which Tik Tok logo to use... I added the white logo to see what it looked like, but ultimately went with black. I included in the bulletin board kit in case you prefer to use it in your school! Below are the materials I used to create this  Halloween-Themed Interactive Digital Safety ...

Interactive, Halloween-Themed Digital Safety Bulletin Board

Image
In my last post I shared about Digital Citizenship Week Ideas . Each month we host a monthly PBIS theme. Digital Citizenship is the monthly theme for October. As an additional way to reinforce what students are learning this month about Digital Citizenship, I created an interactive, Halloween-themed, digital safety bulletin board to share digital safety tips with students and staff. I designed the bulletin board to be interactive. Students/staff can lift the flap to learn more about each digital safety tip. Everything you need to display this bulletin board is included with the bulletin board kit - social media icons, candy clipart, and a Jack-o-lantern face to glue on a bag. How do you educate students about digital safety? If you display this item in your own school I would love to see it! Please share with me on  Instagram  or  Twitter .

Shutting the Door on Digital Predators: Digital Safety Lesson Part 2

Image
In my previous post I shared the first part of my Digital Safety lesson for 6th grade students . During the second half of the lesson I showed students a video focusing on digital privacy and safety.  When looking for a video to share, I went first to  Rebecca Lallier's blog, School Counseling by Heart  and found this awesome video below. (Rebecca is an expert on all things child abuse so be sure to check out her MANY resources!) The video is about a girl who has a public account online. It outlines some of the dangers of having your information open and available for anyone to see. It is 8 minutes and 34 seconds long. Before watching the video with my students, I explained that the video we are about to watch can be a little creepy at times, but I felt like it was important to for you to see what can happen if we do not take our digital safety seriously.  During the video students gasped at different parts, especially when the predator goes into he...
