Welcome to School Counselor Blog!

Hello! Welcome to the School Counselor Blog! Three weeks ago I started a job as a long-term substitute elementary school counselor in an urban school district. Along with this amazing opportunity came an amazing amount of responsibility. I am the interim school counselor for an early childhood school of 550 Pre-K though 3rd grade students. I am excited to be in a position where I am able to facilitate classroom lessons, group counseling, and individual sessions. The staff at the school has been very welcoming to me, which has made the experience even better.

While looking for ideas for lessons and activities to do with students, I realized that there are many websites that have resources for counselors. There have been many professors, supervisors, colleagues, and students who have clued me in to some great resources as well. I thought it would be great to have all of those resources in one place. My dad suggested that I create a blog where I could catalogue, "a day in the life of a school counselor," but also as a place where school counselors and school counseling students can share ideas.

I hope you enjoy this blog and benefit from the ideas and resources!
