I have used Book 1 in girls small group. I would love to use the series with all my 5th grade students. The graphic novel format will be engaging. I would continue to implement locker practice and a middle school tour.
ReplyDeleteI think this would be a great series to help middle school students! After watching the video clip, I think this resource would be ideal to address the many issues middle school students experience on a daily basis. The language seems appropriate for middle school students with issues they can relate to. I'd love to have this resource!
ReplyDeleteThis series could be incorporated into the curriculum for the Student Skills class I'm teaching to 8th-graders this year. The "What's Up With My Family" unit sounds intriguing.

We're currently trying to get some groups together and are looking for curriculum ideas! I think these books would be great for providing session ideas and content! And I absolutely love the iPad app. I work for a non-profit so giveaways definitely help us out ;-).
ReplyDeleteI am at lost on what to do with my older kids in small groups.. this would be perfect! It has to be relevant AND fun! This series would be perfect in doing just that!
ReplyDeleteAnother great resource for small groups, individual counseling, and guidance classes. Sometimes it's hard to find materials that middle school students relate to, and these books look like they will do the trick! The app looks especially engaging.
ReplyDeleteOh my there are so many different ways to use this resource. The app could be placed on our webpage for parents and students to access anytime they want. This would be great in small groups or classroom guidance. For classroom lessons you could read a section and have the students break into groups to figure out how to help the character. The possibilities are endless. What a fabulous resource!
ReplyDeleteI feel that middle school often gets lost in the shuffle between elementary and high school. Often times resources need to be adapted to fit middle schooler's needs. I really like the ideas of the books and app made for this age group. As many said it could be used for a small group. But I also think that they could be used for classroom lessons, as supplemental reading for a student who may be in the same situation, or even for a parent book club to help them understand the difficulties kids face in middle school.
ReplyDeleteI could reaaaalllly use such a great resource for the middle-schoolers I work with at my K-6 internship site. The language is great and the more I am exposed to counseling at the elementary and middle-school levels the more I appreciate the importance of the "right" words when trying to reach these students!

ReplyDeleteAnd...finally on twitter :-)
ReplyDeleteThis would be great for my older students, it is hard to find materials that encourage older kids to open up!
ReplyDeleteThis would be great to use with small groups or individuals! I like that it uses language and quotes from real middle school students so that the students I work with don't feel like it's just adults telling them what to do or how to feel. Thanks so much for having this contest and providing links to all of these resources. I haven't won, but I've added everything to my wish list. :)
ReplyDeleteThis would be great for my 5th graders. It looks like a great series to add to my library.
