I presented a National School Counseling Week Idea Sharing Session for my local school counselor association. One of the many hats I currently wear is Vice President of the Allegheny County School Counselors Association. In this role, I plan all of the professional development events for the 2024-25 school year. This consists of three all day professional development sessions.  To add an interactive element to our ACSCA Winter Meeting and to promote National School Counseling Week, I got the idea to create a photo wall and selfie station. I have created photo stations at my school for other events like Open House and Start with Hello Week. Roll out the red carpet for National School Counseling Week with some popcorn and advocacy! 🍿📣  For Open House and outside of the School Counseling Office at my school I have a Popcorn theme. During National School Counseling Week I wanted to give a fun little treat to my school counseling internship supervision group.  I had been thinking of things for weeks but was having a very hard time coming up with anything that met all of my criteria: cute, colorful, inexpensive, and able to be easily recreated (I was thinking of you all on this one!!!). While checking out my Instagram feed at the beginning National School Counseling Week I found my inspiration! Someone made a M&Ms (Magnificent and Marvelous) sign for staff with a bowl of  fun-sized M&Ms   I thought this was a a super cute idea that I could easily adapt for my group. I rushed to the grocery store to pick up fun-sized M&Ms  so I could get to work making a printable! National School Counseling Week was a fun-filled week of celebrating and advocating for me this year! I had the opportunity to participate in School Counseling On Air  by hosting What I Wish I Knew Wednesday and participating on Dr. Mason's Social Media Saturday session.  (If you missed them you can watch all the videos on the School Counseling On Air YouTube page !)  I made special treats for my school counseling internship supervision group and my doctoral cohort!
