I added some To Proficiency... and BEYOND! items to the School Counselor Blog Store. These items were inspired by the rocket-themed bulletin board I created with my co-school counselor for state testing.



The To Proficiency... and BEYOND! bulletin board was a great way to share test-taking tips with students while using a fun rocket/outer-space theme!

Last year, I saw a lot of "Take What You Need, Give What You Can" Bulletin Boards popping up everywhere. I decided to fuel my new found love of printing on sticky notes and make a sticky note version. The idea behind the "Take What You Need, Give What You Can" board is that you take a positive message that you "need" to hear or "give" (write) a positive or uplifting message for someone else to take. I displayed the "Take What You Need, Give What You Can" sticky note board on a window near the school counseling office. Spring Mindfulness Bulletin Board with QR Codes

I created this colorful, interactive, spring bulletin board for our March & April PBIS theme, mindfulness. I made this bulletin board interactive for students by adding QR Codes with different mindfulness activities. Since most things need to be touch-less right now, I thought using QR Codes would be an easy way for students to access some mindfulness activities. If you are not familiar with QR Codes, QR stands for Quick Response. QR Codes are scannable with a smart device camera (iPad, tablet, or smart phone). you can easily make your own QR codes by using a QR Code generator. You can link the QR Code to a website or online document. When the user scans the QR Code they will be directed to the link. I used  QR Code Generator  to create the QR Codes.  I got the idea for this bulletin board while looking for mindfulness resources. Career Dress Up Day: Red Ribbon Week 2011

Friday was Dream Career Day for our theme "Follow Your Dreams - Don't Do Drugs!" Students were encouraged to dress up as their dream career. Staff were encouraged to dress up like a career too! Students dressed up like lawyers, teachers, movie stars, singers, cheerleaders, football players, nurses, doctors, and much more. Some students who dressed in their normal uniform attire told me that they were dressing up as students! :) Teachers were dressed as a variety of careers as well. They dressed up as flight attendants, baseball players, coaches, nurses, doctors, and more. Some teachers wore their graduation caps and gowns from their undergraduate or graduate ceremonies! I dressed up as a veterinarian! To make my "costume" I bought a white lab coat and wore it with dress pants and a button down shirt. I wore a stethoscope that I borrowed from my brother around my neck.  I printed out a name tag for myself that said "Dr. Schultz, Veterinarian"...
