Last Minute Gift Ideas for School Counselors

If you still looking for a gift for the school counselor in your life, you are in luck! I compiled 10 items that would make great last minute (but also thoughtful!) gifts. It can use it in groups and individual counseling sessions. The classic version is great! I think the  big version  or giant version would be super fun for a counseling group. "Note"-icing Student Effort

It may seem like a small gesture, but writing notes to students can make a big impact. This year I am making it my goal to write notes to students when they go above and beyond to applaud their effort. I am also including one of our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) tickets with the card. Some examples of things I have written notes to students for recently, include: Assisting with 6th grade Move Up Day Assisting with New Student Orientation Providing a tour to a new student and helping the student feel welcome Sharing experience as a previously new student to help a new student feel less alone in their experience Helping another student in class Cleaning up the cafeteria after lunch - when no one asked Below are some pictures of notes I shared on Instagram ( @sch_counselor ). Quick and Easy Welcome Back Bulletin Board

If you are short on time and need a quick and easy "Welcome Back" bulletin board, this one is for you! This bulletin board is an idea mash-up of  Dr. Susan Fuller - Entirely Elementary School Counseling "BE" Bulletin Board  and  this inspiring classroom door  I saw on Pinterest. I created the words for this bulletin board using Google Slides. Google has some awesome fonts, and best of all they are free! If you save a copy of Welcome Back Bulletin Board you can add more words, change the fonts, and edit the "Welcome Back" message to state your school's name or acronym. I printed the words on alternated colors of cardstock . I framed the "Welcome Back" message with a l arger piece of black cardstock . #NotAtASCA15 Chat - 6/29/15 at 8pmEST

On Monday, June 29th at 8pmEST Dr. Erin Mason ( @ecmmason ) and I ( @sch_counselor ) will be moderating the #NotAtASCA15 chat. Tips for Following the ASCA Conference Virtually When You are #NotAtASCA15

Wish you were headed to the 2015 ASCA National Conference in Phoenix, AZ, but can't make it this year? This post is for you! This will be my first time virtually following the ASCA National Conference from home. As I mentioned in my previous post , I have attended the past four ASCA Conferences and will not be attending this year because we are awaiting the arrival of our first child in July! Below I will share some tips for following along with all the #ASCA15 buzz while at home or from your vacation destination! Get Familiar with Hashtags I really wish Dr. Erin Mason and I would have recorded our rendition of  Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon's #Hashtag Sketch  that we did during our presentation at the ASCA Conference last year. A hashtag is a basically a way to label a term so that it is searchable.
