First Ever School Counselor Twitter Chat! (August 4, 2011 at 7pm Eastern Time)

I am excited to host the First Ever School Counselor Tweet Chat! I have been wanting to host a twitter chat for some time now... and I decided there is no time like the present.

The twitter chat will be held August 4, 2011 at 7pm Eastern time.

Directions to Participate in the School Counselor Tweet Chat

Register for Twitter and TweetChat

In order to participate a you need a twitter account and Tweet Chat, a twitter chat manager.  It is also possible to use a twitter management system like TweetDeck or HootSuite for a twitter chat.

Before the chat begins, log in to your twitter account and your tweet management account (TweetChat, TweetDeck, HootSuite, etc.)

Next, specify the hash tag you would like to follow. The hash tag for the chat is #sctweetchat (which stands for School Counselor Tweet Chat).

Follow the #scchat Hash Tag

To follow the chat and to respond you must follow the #sctweetchat hash tag.  Using a service like TweetChat makes it very easy to follow. TweetChat automatically adds the hash tag to your tweet once you specify the hash tag you are following. If you do not include #sctweetchat other individuals in the chat will not be able to see your responses.

Respond to a Specific Person

To direct a tweet to a specific person in the chat, use the person's twitter handle.

For example if you wanted to direct a tweet to me,  Danielle from School Counselor blog, you would write @sch_counselor What is your favorite book about rumors and gossip? #scchat

@sch_counselor is my twitter handle and #sctweetchat is the chat hash tag.

Share and Enjoy!

Don't hesitate to share your ideas, questions, and thoughts! Twitter chats are all about sharing and gaining ideas!

If you have never participated in a twitter chat before, don't be discouraged if it is a little overwhelming. It can be hard to get the swing of the first time around.  Also, I will be posting a transcript of the chat so you won't miss a single tweet even if you aren't able to participate live!

Tweet You Later!

There is not a set topic for our first chat. I am really trying to gauge interest in the hopes of making this a monthly or bi-weekly event!

What topics would you like to discuss at a future twitter chat? Comment below, tweet, or contact Danielle, share on the School Counselor Blog Facebook Page!

*Note School Counselor Tweet Chat tag hash tag was #sctweetchat and is now #scchat
